We are really looking forward to our next booking for "The Story of Gomer". This is a very special one to me because I am going home! We don't get up to Syracuse, New York (Where my folks still live) very often, and it has been five years since we did our play in my home town. My home church is Grace A/G in Syracuse, but there is this really cool church that some of my friends went to while we were growing up, located on the East side, called Church of the Resurrection, or "Church of the Rez" for short.
People ask me all the time how we get bookings for our ministry. Anyone involved in a traveling ministry will tell you that getting bookings to keep your ministry going is an ongoing challenge. I loved talking to Pastor Lou Giordano, senior pastor of Church of the Rez, because first of all, he is a really neat guy, but also because he absolutely embodies how the Holy Spirit touches a pastor and how God opens the door to where He wants our ministry to be.
Some times we contact churches, and we either get a flat out "No!", or we do not get any response at all. Then there are Pastors like Pastor Lou. He said and I quote, "My heart leapt when I looked at your website." He gets it. He knows the power of God's redeeming love, and he is humble enough to allow God to do something in his church that is "outside the box". Wow. We cannot wait to meet Pastor Lou Giordano, and definitely cannot wait to see what the Lord will do as we bring "The Story of Gomer" to Church of the Resurrection for two services; one at each of their locations on Sunday July 18th 2010.
This is also a special time of ministry for me because I am inviting not only my family, but all my old friends from high school to come see the play. Thanks to Facebook, I am in touch with people that I have not seen or talked to in years. It would be wonderful to be able to share the Gospel with them, and my testimony, and pray that the Lord will touch their hearts.
